Ridged burnupena (Burnupena cincta)

Shell robust. Outer surface with coarse spiral ridges, although West Coast specimens may lack these. Aperture about 1.5 times longer than the spire. Posterior end of outer lip strongly kinked inwards. Dull brown, often tinged green by algae. Aperture pale violet.

About 40 mm.

Scavenges on dead or injured animals low on the shore and subtidally.
