Very similar to the Natal rock crab in structure, but dull khaki-green tinged with yellow and with pale nippers. The sides of its carapace are almost straight, not obviously convex as in the Natal rock crab.
About 35 mm.
Lives in the intertidal zone, hiding in rock crevices and emerging to feed during low tide, particularly at night. Feeding habits are unknown ! Juveniles of the Natal rock crab can easily be confused with this species because they are also drab, by the shape of the sides of the carapace is a reliable distinguishing feature.
