
Port Edward, KwaZulu-Natal (2022) – iNaturalist
Carapace is light brown, sub-circular, broader than long, with a smooth dorsal surface and a moderately bi-lobed narrow front. Eyes hidden beneath the front. Chelipeds about half as long as carapace. Legs not granulated. Male abdomen with sharp triangular telson.
Found in the upper intertidal region, under boulders. Reported from different coastal areas of South Africa, from Table Mountain to KwaZulu-Natal, and from India.

The genus Leucisca was erected by MacLeay for the South African species, Leucisca squalina, until a second species from Australia, L. levigena, was described for the genus (George & Clark, 1976). Along its distribution range, Natal specimens are smaller than Cape specimens, but otherwise indistinguishable (Barnard, 1946).
