Fork-tailed drongo (Dicrurus adsimilis)

Black body with a blue-green iridescence in specific regions. Underside and belly uniformly black, contrasting with the glossy black-blue upper body. Robust black beak. Red eyes. Deeply forked lengthy tail. Males and females alike, with little sexual dimorphism.

Juveniles dark-brown with buff-coloured feather tips, a less pronounced tail fork, brown or grey eyes and a pale mouth.

Wingspan : 134 mm.

Common and widespread resident breeder in Africa, with six subspecies determined by their respective geographical range and minute morphological differences. Insectivorous bird usually found in open woodland, savanna and forest edge, tolerant of arid climates.
