Banded goby (Caffrogobius caffer)

Small dusky, mottled fish, with 8-12 vertical bars on the sides and 13-14 dorsal rays in the second dorsal fin. Rounded head. Pelvic fin disc-like.

About 14 cm.

A common endemic permanently resident in tidal pools. Breeds year-round and attaches eggs to stones and shells. Omnivorous, it eagerly takes the bait of junior ‘bent-pin’ anglers.
