Gulls are raucous scavenging birds from the Laridae family that are common around ships, harbors and rubbish dumps. They are moderately large birds with long, slender wings, webbed feet and robust, pointed beaks.
Oystercatchers are the largest of the waders and form the Haematopodidae family. They have bills that are markedly flattened from side to side, an adaptation for prying open mussels. They have short legs, and only three toes.
