Beetles are insects belonging to the order Coleoptera and are distinguishable by their front pair of wings that are hardened into ‘wing cases’ – also called elytra. With about 400,000 species described in the world, the Coleoptera is the largest of all orders and constitutes almost 40 % of described arthropods and 25 % of all know species.
